The Playground

The FUNTASTIC state-of-the-art playground was opened in 2006 and has over 30 pieces of play equipment to enjoy from cradle swings for the very young to a large climbing space net for older children (under 12).

The playground is set in an elevated location overlooking the Irish Sea and is easily accessed from the main car park through a woodland walk which is very close by. A lower car park is available for wheelchair accessibility only.

The playground is themed on the castle and the sea to identify with the Ardgillan focus. The ground is coloured blue to represent the sea, with aquatic playground equipment, brown to represent the sand of the
nearby beach, and the castle is perched on a green mound to represent Ardgillan Castle itself.

Since the playground opened it has proved to be a huge attraction for children both in the locality and the region. Kids of all ages will enjoy a playground that offers significant variety as well as lots of action and an opportunity to enhance their developing imagination as well as keeping them fit by engaging them in outdoor activity.

The enclosed purpose-built, safe-surface playground offers a secure environment for children and is divided into age-appropriate activities.
